ABOUT US
We aim to be a fun, safe, social, friendly, and inclusive club that welcome’s riders of all shapes, sizes and abilities. You don't have to own a horse and persons of any gender are eligible for full membership provided they are over 17 years of age. The club caters for all abilities from the inexperienced to the competitive. Whether you want to improve your riding, learn more about your horse, try new disciplines or just meet some like-minded people, the Canterbury Riding Club has something for everyone interested in horses.
The Club has a number of objectives outlined in the Constitution, however, the main aim is to “encourage riding as a sport and recreation, to promote good fellowship amongst riders and to improve and maintain a standard of riding and horsemanship.”
What you can expect as a member
The Canterbury Riding Club has a committee that meets every month. They are responsible for upholding the club’s constitution and organising events from member’s feedback.
Club Activities include both mounted and unmounted rallies which may include instruction, club hire of equestrian facilities for member’s use (JAM rallies), trekking, cowboy challenge, horse simulator, and presentations by professionals in equine speciality areas. There are Inter-Club Competitions as well as the Club’s own performance awards including showing, versatility, attendance and sportsmanship.
Members receive regular newsletters via email and the club also has a Facebook page “Canterbury Riding Club NZ 2018' you have to be a member of Facebook to join the group. This site is limited to CRC information.
